Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry to keep the chenille pile full. Do not iron directly. A light brush restores the plush texture after washing, and the fibers stay pill-resistant when cared for this way.

Velvet XL is much thicker at 55 yards per 100 g, works at #6 Super Bulky gauge with a 9 mm hook, and is better for large plush, throws and chunky blankets.

What hook or needle size does Velvet XL need?

Velvet XL works up big and fast with a 9 mm crochet hook or 8 to 9 mm knitting needles. Because it is dense, a slightly firm, even tension keeps the chenille pile smooth and the fabric neat.

How do I wash Velvet XL without flattening the pile?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry to keep the pile full. Press gently between two towels rather than wringing, avoid direct ironing, and fluff the pile with your fingers once dry.
