A feather-light, anti-pilling yarn in a soft acrylic and polyamide blend. It is OEKO-TEX® certified, glides smoothly on hooks and needles, and works up into garments and accessories that keep their shape wash after wash.

Estako Downy feels soft and lightweight in the hand, with a subtle fuzzy texture and a gentle drape. The nylon-rich blend resists pilling, so finished pieces stay clean and wearable for years.

Common questions

Is Estako Downy OEKO-TEX® certified and suitable for baby projects?

Yes. Downy is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, independently tested and free from harmful substances. It is exceptionally soft and anti-pilling, which makes it a gentle choice for baby blankets and clothing.

What is Downy made of?

Downy is a nylon-rich blend of 60% polyamide and 40% premium acrylic. The high polyamide content gives it a silky-soft hand and strong anti-pilling performance, so projects stay smooth and fuzz-free with wear.

What is Downy best for?

Soft baby blankets, garments and accessories where a gentle drape matters. It is a #3 DK weight, worked with a 3 to 4 mm hook or needle.

How do I wash Downy?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry. The anti-pilling blend keeps the surface smooth, so it holds up well to regular washing.

Why is Downy so soft?

The 60% polyamide content gives Downy a fine, silky microfibre feel that is softer than standard acrylic, while also resisting pilling so it stays soft over time.
